CIVIL COURT, BUXAR
The History of Buxar dates back to the period of Ramayana. Mythological narration shows glorious past and rich heritage of the district. This place finds its linkage with auspicious story of Lord Ram, Sage Vishwamitra, Devi Ahilya. Situated on the bank of river Ganga & Karmanasa, this district has prominent place in the history of modern India as Battle of Buxar & Chausa have changed the course of history of our nation.
On the Administrative map of state of Bihar, The Buxar District found its emergence in the year of 1991. Judicial History of the district traced back to 07.02.1974 when Court of Sub-Judge in erstwhile Sub-division of Buxar was created. Functioning of Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate was started on 14.03.1992. The Court of District & Session Judge was inugurated by the then Hon’ble Chief Justice Sri Bimal Chandra Basak of Hon’ble Patna High Court on 11.12.1992. Sri Dinanath Prasad was the first District & Session Judge. The legacy flourished with passage of time and in the lineage, at present Sri Anand Nandan Singh is holding the post as 19th District & Session’s Judge of the District. The District Judiciary is having its principal seat at District Head Quarter, and one Sub- Divisional Court has been established at Dumraon Sub- Division. The District Judiciary comprising of sanctioned strength of 31 Courts at District Head Quarter and sanctioned strength of Three (03) Courts at Dumraon Sub-Divisional Court.
There are three Court complexes 16 Court building , 10 Courts building and 05 Courts Fast Track Court building besides that there are separate Record Room and related Complex. The Alternate Dispute Complex was inagurated on 24th December, 2016. The Child friendly Court has been inagurated in the year 2019 in the 16 Courts building. In the era of Information Technology, the district judiciary has been equipped with latest technological features by Hon’ble High Court. The Proceeding of the Courts in Buxar Judgeship could be conducted through Physical as well as virtual mode. There are two Studio based V.C Room at Buxar and two at Sub Divisional Civil Court at Dumraon.
Recently for the purpose of augmenting generous approach in the society towards environment, “ Nyaya Vatika” has been inaugurated by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Arun Kumar Jha, Inspecting Judge of Buxar Judgeship on 15.12.2023 and on even date, “ Witness shed” which has been renovated under stewardship of District & Session’s Judge as a mark of importance of witness in the Justice Delivery System, has also been inaugurated by auspicious hands of the Lordship.
